There might be some truth behind this because some of it contains some convincing ideas. But how is she able to know all these reasons of what romance is. Why does she believed that romance serves a larger political purpose by offering at least a temporary reward for gender roles and threatening rebels with loneliness and rejection. So in a way I think what she is saying is BS cause she is using her own opinion on this lovely day. And she thinks that because she had some very bad experiences on valentines day or she's just been lonely every valentines day.
